Description

Police psychologists and crisis interventionists provide psychological support to victims of crime and persons affected by emergencies. Within the integrated rescue services, they are the first to provide this assistance, together with psychologists and interveners of other security forces. Peers provide assistance to police officers, even to those who intervene in crisis situations.

The lecturers of the Police Education and Training Unit are involved in the basic police induction training and specialization training, especially in the field of communication/soft skills, police ethic and stress management. 56 police psychologists are trainers in the field of crisis intervention, peer support, communication and other soft skills.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE ORGANISATION

Police Education and Training Unit (PETU) is the supreme body responsible for education and training within the Police of the Czech Republic. It was established on 1 July 2015 by Act of the Minister of Interior No. 32/2015 as a unit with nation-wide competency. The tasks of the Unit range from conducting basic police course for new recruits, direction and coordination of compulsory in-service training, conducting and coordination of further vocational education including senior and leadership courses. The Police Education and Training Unit consists of six training centers in six different locations throughout the Czech Republic and its Directorate is located in Prague.

HOW THE ORGANISATION WILL CONTRIBUTE TO THE DISSEMINATION AND EXPLOITATION OF THE PROJECT RESULTS

The Police Education and Training Unit will be involved in the project mainly to disseminating information about the project and use the project outputs within the Police of the Czech Republic. The outputs of the project can be implemented in existing Czech police educational system – incl. training of police psychologists, crisis interventionists, peers and other police officers intervening in crisis situations.
